Another Shrike - 17th Feb 08
Posted 17-02-2008 at 07:50 PM by Deer Stalker
Had the afternoon to myself today so I walked from Anderwood, through Burley Outer Rails Inclosure, Beech Bed Inclosure, Soarley Bottom, Backley Holms, Bratley Wood, North Oakley Inclosure & Mark Ash Wood.
Although not a cloud in the sky & only a slight cold breeze the birds weren't showing as much as they do in the mornings still.
The highlight today was a Great Grey Shrike that perched on top of a tree at Soarley Beeches.

Also seen & heard:
2 herds of Red hinds
Fallow does
Robins
Blackbirds
Great Tits
Blue Tits
Coal Tits
Wrens
Buzzard
Kestrel
Raven
Great Spotted Woodpeckers
Long-tailed Tits
Dartford Warbler
Siskins
Mistle Thrush
Chaffinch
Goldcrest
Wood Ants

| | You're very lucky to see a Great Grey Shrike! Lovely birds - I've only ever seen one of them, in Suffolk a few years ago. |
