Blackwater Arboretum - 9th Dec 07
Posted 10-12-2007 at 11:09 PM by Deer Stalker
Had a bit of time to go out this afternoon once it stopped raining & decided to cheat & go & have a look at the Hawfinches come into roost at the Arboretum.
I must have seen about 20 come in, but surprisingly not alot of Siskins or Crossbills etc, just a few Chaffinches & Tits.
While I was there I decided to go out the other end of the arboretum into Vinney ridge Inclosure & managed to get a couple of pics of some fungi.
Candle-snuff

& Fat Polypore

also a Cherry gall on the fallen leaves made by the gall wasp Cynips quercusfolii.

While I was there this little Muntjac was foraging about.

| | Good to hear the Hawfinches are around in good numbers, I'll have to pay another visit soon. Nice shot of the Muntjac as well, I'd like to see one of those, it's been ages since I last saw one! |

| | I don't think I ever got round to seeing the Hawfinches at the Arboretum. Nice pics, hows the new camera going - do you like it? |

| | Cheers Guy, it was a surprise to see the Muntjac, not many come on to the Forest. Hi Gwen, yep, like the camera, still got a long way to go with it though. |
