Anderwood - 25th Nov 07

Went for a quick walk from Anderwood in the New Forest late this afternoon. We went through Anderwood Inclosure, into Knightwood Inclosure & then into Mark Ash Wood.
The birds were very quiet as the light was fading, except for a Great Spotted Wodpecker calling from the top of a tree in Knightwood & some Siskins flew over.
A few mushrooms were undamaged by the frosts, mainly in Anderwood & Mark Ash there were Wood Blewits, Butter Caps, Shaggy Pholiota, & a few species of Mycena.

Walking through Mark Ash Wood we found some big pieces of honeycomb about 40cm across on the ground. Still smelt of honey.
