Garden wildlife - Micro Pond in the making.

"Arrrrggghhhh" I thought to myself "I need to release my mind from hospital visit imprisonment". To make things worse there was no volunteering today because the visit had to be in the morning.
"Sod it" I thought to myself after effectively telling a WAB member to build a pond "I'm going to do something for the froglets if and when they emerge".
The aim was to make a damp patch in the dry habitat around the pond as a froglet refuge. Having sealed the pond edging stones yesterday with PVA-type glue (1/10 wood glue) I thought I'd go a bit further in my quest for froggy heaven.

a. Before.
b. Pick-axed hole.
c. Arriva (arriva) underlay (underlay). LOL
d. Firestone pond liner off-cut, cut to size.
e. That hose is fed directly from the water butt.
f. Level not too bad considering it was done by eye. The land run-off gully can be seen towards the top left of the pond.
g. Under the board walk - that's where they'll be....surrounded by plants by the time they emerge, we'll see.
The whole lot was completed in under 1.5 h. I will post other pictures as the pond matures.
h. Proof that although the idea for this mini-project started life as a grassy puddle, pond building is in my nature - I just CAN'T RESIST.
I was so proud when I saw that first oxygenating bubble emerging. I bet I feel like God is supposed to have felt when he created life. I wonder if he'd had enough of hospitals that day too.........
