Dean Head, 9th Dec' 2007
Posted 10-12-2007 at 09:06 PM by ChrisJB
As the sun was setting this evening, I drove over to Dean Head moors (near Scammonden Dam) to look for Short Eared Owls.
'T was rather disappointing really, due to a low, bright sun spoiling my scanning of the moor. It was the first time I'd visited this moor and was astonished to find the moorland grave of a local farmer and shepherd who wanted to 'return to his flock, one last time'. Adjacent is a wrought iron seat, a suitably quiet place for remembrance and reflection. I'll come here again.
As the sun dipped below the skyline, temperatures dropped and I felt 'perished' and virtually ran off the moor, back to the car.
