tadpoles
Posted 09-04-2009 at 09:43 PM by brenbee
last sunday, while walking Timmy in the forest, we passed the spot where we had seen frogs mating a few weeks ago. last time we passed the spawn was still there. this time there was hundreds of Tadpoles just getting ready to break free, which some had already done.
they were all bunched 2gether 4 protection & all wriggling. what a sight! we'd just struck it lucky to see this sight & stood watching 4 quite some time. wondering how many would survive! its the things like this that makes nature so fascinating.

| | I have over at least 100 tadpoles in my garden pond, getting bigger as can see their eyes and little mouths as they come upto breath. I sit there for hours watching and have been feeding them on fishfood, tadpole food and terropin food (all dry). They are at diffrent stages as some are slighlty smaller and don't take as much interest in the food. I would like any advise as to how to protect them as much as possible eg: netting? what will eat them? and at what stage? I know if food is short they eat each other but are they pass this stage now? Thank You for your help, Marie |
