Bad Blogger
Posted 27-11-2011 at 12:25 PM by Botticelliwoman
I'm a terrible blogger but I'm passionate about our wildlife on this little island.
I'm Aitch to my friends, some-time artist (wildlife naturally), avid gardener, border terrier owner and birder.
I'm starting a wildlife gardening business because I was fed up with travelling from garden-centre to garden centre, trying to find the plants I needed; not to mention the prices they charge!
Since I started gardening for wildlife I've been astonished at what visits. Yesterday I was almost decapitated by a low-flying sparrowhawk; and she's welcome, along with the occasional rat - though I'd never tell a potential customer that they kinda go with the territory.
I just think that if you garden and you're going to buy plants, why not buy something that'll attract bees, butterflies and hoverflies? I'm not talking wildflowers either (though there are some any well-respected gardener shouldn't be without) but you can have a 'normal' looking garden that is packed with life. Here endeth the first lesson, tee hee
