Top Poster: glsammy (15,067) | | Welcome to our newest member, rickyhobson | |  | Yesterday I was tracking a coal tit in the conifer and spotted something else move - thought it was a wren but on further careful observation saw a red/orange flash and two black lines either side on the top of its head - yes a firecrest! I was amazed - never thought I'd see one of those in "my" conifer.
Is it a migratory bird just finding landfall - I am 5 minutes from the sea on sussex coast.

|  | | Two days ago I was having my usual scan of the garden from the comfort of the kitchen and I thought I saw the usual female sparrow on one of the feeders - hang on a minute! that's not a sparrow- bins out quick - have a really long look at it and take in all the details. creamy/yellowy line above AND below the black eye, pale underneath, beigey on breast, back looked stripey brown from head to tail.
