I came home the other day and found 6 pairs of shoes randomly placed on the sofa. Earnie had became bored whilst I was out and wanted the company; the company of our shoes. He enjoys ‘collecting’ random items throughout the house and storing them. A week before my wedding day I discovered he had carefully opened a shoebox, unwrapped my wedding shoes and placed them on his bed. He also stole playing cards once. Luckily, he never chews things, other than glasses and Christmas presents…
I was blessed on Sunday with a rarity of a bird sighting. Well, I say rarity, but for most that would include such birds as an Archaeopteryx, but to me it meant spotting two Dippers. Now, Dippers are not rare but for 2 years I failed to spot any. Largely due to not living near any good flowing waterways and even more largely to me being a rubbish birder and always drunk. But thanks to a chance stop at a car wash, I spotted them in the nearby stream. And this wondrous find marks the start of my 2009 What Birds lists… next week I may glimpse a sparrow.
Simba, our beloved Bearded Dragon and the first exotic pet we owned as a couple, is getting a vivarium overhaul. The spot bulbs (currently two 100w are dangling in there) are going and being replaced by a 150w ceramic bulb. New feeding bowls are coming in and a whole host of other goodies. As soon as my website is up and running again you will be able to check out the pictures of it all!
The Wildlife garden is still the same; one muddy hole where the pond will be (I did however manage to buy myself some new Vans shoes though….).
