This afternoon, about 3.40pm or so, I saw a Great Spotted Woodpecker on one of the feeders on the apple tree in the back garden. I think it was a juvenile, as I couldn't spot any red on its head at all.
We used to get these birds on the feeders fairly regularly. Then about six months some new people moved in next-door-but-one, and started putting out bird food in their garden. The woodpeckers then seemed to stop coming to our garden - the new people's garden is closer to the tall...
