| | | moon tonight Just as I got ready for some deepsky stuff thin cloud rolled-in so targetted the moon through tiny cloud breaks in this mosaic - note the Straight Wall near terminator and craterlet in Ptolemaeus

| | | Re: moon tonight Looking at those craters leads me to ask is the moon still being bombarded, if not, do we know when the last crater was formed ?
Would I also be right in assuming that whatever the average size of meteorite made these craters, would disintegrate on entering Earth's atmosphere ?

| | | Re: moon tonight The moon got even bigger and brighter last night but from the city is a minor inconvenience in light pollution terms whilst recording deepsky objects near the zenith like the the open star cluster M52, and planetary nebula bubbles like vivid Bowtie NGC 40 and Little Dumbbell M76 below.
I've added the moon to my 'city' moniker as a reminder of the less-than-desirable conditions
ps: No creatures alien or otherwise were harmed whilst taking these images

| | | Re: moon tonight Nice one 'KLee' - mine tonight at moonrise at dusk with camera held at scope eyepiece - from appearance the moon is a few hours before full and reversed left/right due to scope mirror
BTW- Venus seen at dusk in SW as 'The Evening Star'
