Stargazers will be delighted, then, by the news this week that Exmoor National Park has been designated an International Dark-Sky Reserve by the International Dark-Sky Association – only the second place in the world, after Mont Mégantic in Quebec, Canada, to enjoy such status. The park will now have greater powers to prevent light pollution and protect the night sky for a growing group of enthusiastic astronomers. yay good "ol" Devon

Well done Devon and Exmoor - it needs political will to push these measures through  Unfortunately the UK population, as a whole, has little concept of light pollution - now if our beloved football was played on broken glass...  |

At one time were able to see the cluster Praesepe or Beehive with the naked eye but not in recent years, unless it’s my old eyes? |
