| | | Re: BBC Horizon - "Seeing Stars" In the mid sixties I was groundcrew working on "Argosy" aircraft a.k.a "the whistling t*t", care of H.M.t.Q. and on one training flight the Navigator was checking out his skills using the "Sun Gun", (a stellar navigation instrument).
The aircraft was moving about as it would affected by air turbulence and 'on the command' from the nav' the captain flicked a switch and the aircraft became steady as a rock so the nav' could take a sighting.
N.A.S.A. have only just caught up wth the technology ! ! !

| | | Re: BBC Horizon - "Seeing Stars" Very interesting programme.I liked that bit with the Scope under the Sea, looking for Nutrinos....They`ve been waiting for two years , hadn`t seen one. Somehow, I think they`re in for a long wait...:-). Interesting programme nonetheless.
