Great range of photos, folks. I knew you'd do it. Definitely an event worth seeing.

Thank you and good night!

Some cracking images posted I really enjoyed watching it happen. A few light clouds partially cover it at times but I got some reasonable images. A few below and more on my website

Re: March 3rd - Total Lunar Eclipse

A bit late now but for those of you that could only get white dots because of their camera lenses, you can use binoculars or telescopes as a long lense. With digital camera's LCD view finders these days it's even easier to get a reasonable shot.

Re: March 3rd - Total Lunar Eclipse

We said goodnight to our guests and stood in the cold
to watch the partial eclipse, very worthwhile.
The change from the bright final corona to that dead red
was mildly disturbing

Re: March 3rd - Total Lunar Eclipse

Some excellent shots folks. I tried but could n't get the exposure right.

Thinks....I must have a search through the Forums for the thread on taking shots of the moon.

Before the eclipse on the full moon my exposure was 1/250sec@f8 iso 100
At Totality the exposure was 1 second @ f4 iso 800, anything more than 1 second and the moon orbit was visible.

Everything set manually, including colour balance and focus

These echo my exposure and white balance settings, although I did stop down to f/16 here and there for some extra depth of field (just joking!). However, there were people near me using flash on compact cameras at totality.
