A total lunar eclipse occurs early this coming Tuesday morning just before sunrise low in northwest sky - moonset varies from 8AM [Brighton] to 9AM [Aberdeen] so cameras at the ready 
The eclipse is novel as occuring at the day of winter solstice [Dec 21] - only the second time in the last two millenia  |

Thanks for the reminder Nytecam. I heard about it on the last edition of Sky at Night, but had forgotten about it.
As I'll be at work I'll try and get nearest and dearest to have a look and perhaps a photo too.

I've seen lunar eclipses before and then it turned a dusky orange. |

YES! Yes! I can see it - the moon has a 'red beret' on now!!!!    Cool fantastic!
I must admit I feel a little bit wary tho - wasn't a 'red moon' supposed to augur bad things on the way ........ oh ooohhhh - my 'fey' side is getting out of control again - settle down Pauline - its just a lunar eclipse for goodness sake ....... well if you're sure thats all ........... Hee hee!

Clouds here too. So I'll watch it live online: Lunar Eclipse 2010 LIVE Streaming Video & Updates
The nearest I'll get to dancing around outside under the lunar eclipse is to find the biggest monitor we have, put it in an upstairs window and angle it downwards, to be seen from the bushes, where I'll no doubt be dancing naked when the excitement overwhelms me.
Oh well, at least the clouds are making me feel warmer.
