| | | Moon photography I can get quite nice detailed sharp photos of the moon once its dark but trying to get any detail with a blue sky is proving very hard, does anyone have any tips please? I'm using a canon eos 450D with a 70-300mm zoom lens. I've been using live view 10 x to focus and for night moon my white balance is set to daylight, should i alter that for daylight moon pics? Any help would be appreciated, thanks,

| | | Re: Moon photography It cost nothing to just snap away on many settings and some will come out ok - that's what I do then view and crop on laptop. I never print - it's a waste of money
ps: as a guide the diameter of the moon [and sun] are ~1/100th the fl of the lens used eg 3mm diam for 300mm fl lens or 1/8th the 24mm wide APS camera sensor - if pic very sharp then you can close crop [dump the surrounding sky] with Paint etc to give 600mm or greater effective focal length.
