I have had a look on the web and I am not sure, I will count the stars in the bit that makes up the kite next time I see it and ask again, thank you anyway. |

Its not the swan looks a bit like the southern cross but the tail is not long enough, could anyone suggest a site I can see the southern sky on please. |

Southern winter constellation to name a few:
Aquila
Cygnus
Hercules
Lyra
Ophiuchus
Sagittarius
Scorpius
Taken from Exploring the Southern Hemisphere Constellations
Reticulum is a kite shaped southern hemisphere constellation (although it is quite small and faint) |

Have a look at Piscis Austrinus---The southern fish .Possible to see very low in the south on a clear night away from light pollution.

No sorry, I think it maybe the' southern 'cross is it fairly high up in the sky around Christmas time very bright if so this could be the one, I will have a look out the next time we get a nice clear night and report back. | | | |
