Notice a downturn in posts hereabout lately - are stars a winter thingy? Or is everyone in the Bahamas? |

Yes, it's clearing nicely now  Very few clouds about tonight but maybe a few will hang around long enough to produce a lovely sun set. I always think you need some nice clouds then.
Will be looking at the sky later from my balcony, probably while sipping a Baileys!

Getting dark earlier already in mid-August  here's a vid YouTube - DIY backyard observatory + Meade 30cm SCT of my dome construction of 15yrs ago but still going strong and now awaiting some starlight

Was out their seeing at 2 until 4 o'clock this morning. Saw 16 shooting stars. t was good. |

winter sky's certainly appear to be more favourable however I took my kids to the top of a hill after dinner at grandmas recently and got a lovely clear view of the milky way! One of those clear nights that if you are a part-time gazer like me it is hard to actually spot many of the constellations due to the many stars that are visible!! |

Looked out last night.Saw Jupiter rising.The moon was very bright just over half full.The little dipper was very visible.So was the Big W. Cepheus had its hat showing well.Milky way was beginning to show then the cloud started to cover,so I went in doors About 22.15.Only out for half an hour.But worth the effort.Look forward to those crispy nights.
