I was told by a friend that there was a lunar eclipse last night (sat) does anyone know if this was true?

As an aside we were at Greenwich at BAA meeting [see vid link hereabouts] about then with live broadcast from a telescope on a mountain-top in Hawaii and took deep space pics of a comet etc whilst the sky was dark through the lunar eclipse - no didn't aim at the too bright eclipsed moon as it would have burned the camera out
There's a total solar eclipse in a fortnight across the Pacific [eclipses sometimes come in pairs] and a select/rich few at our meeting are off there to witness this rare event when the day turns to night for a few minutes - lucky them

I once saw one, about 15 years ago. along the beach in bexhill.
the moon was really low, and bright red.
I dont remember it being too bright to look at though? |

I dont remember it being too bright to look at though? | By 'bright' I ment for the 3m diam telescope on Hawaii wew were using that collects ~1/2 a million times more light than the eye |
