Edit: There was no film in the camera..... The picture count said over 30!!! It lied...

| | | Re: biggest full moon + strange clouds Well that was a bit of fun and thanks to nytecam for bringing it to our attention. It's a fantastic night up here and now freezing hard.
My last efforts at very basic digiscoping
and amazingly a UFO hove into view
it was Mars in fact with an exposure so long I thought the camera had frozen!
Most enjoyable - no more pictures of the moon I promise. That's a nice image of yours in post 15 nytecam.

| | | Re: biggest full moon + strange clouds Here's a composite of two exposures taken at 2 minutes to 9 this evening. A 1 second exposure for Mars combined with a 1/320th second exposure for the moon, both at f11. I had to zoom out to 120mm to get both in the frame...
If you click on the image again to bring up the full size image you can see that, even resized down to 1600 pixels wide, Mars is showing a disc.

Has this whole thread been one big mistake?

Has this whole thread been one big mistake? | Well, yes, technically it's tomorrow but at 06:18 in the morning - a little under 7 hours from the time of this post. So the night of the full moon is the night of 29th/30th. I'm nipping out now for a good howl!

Dave P. | Nice one, may i ask how do you do a composite? i take it that its two separate captures blended into one, confusing bit being you say you had to zoom out to get both in the frame, i did try a couple shots but all i could get of Mars was a dot, i did try in black n white as app it is better, | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
