The clouds are scudding across the moon here at the moment, and the moonlight is lighting up their edges in a most spectacular (but kind of spooky) way.

Thanks for the Moon  All I can see is cloud at the mo, and a helicopter hovering over the H of P - will keep looking.

As of 18.45 ish holding my little camera to the telescope eyepiece.
Going to keep on practicing and wish I'd got to grips with the USB eyepiece before now.

Nice pics! I was hoping for one like yours nytecam, but it was already too high by the time I got home from work. I took a shot just before 6 of the moon and Mars but will have another go at 9 when they'll be closer together.
It's all very well that article saying all you need is a DSLR with a 100mm lens but it will need two seperate exposures: If you expose for the moon Mars will not be visible and if you expose for Mars the moon will just be a pure white blob!

I measured it across and it does not seem to be bigger than any of the other times I have measured it

Planet Mars is at opposition about now eg closest to earth in over two years and the moon tonight its biggest of year Both in the frame below....  |

My son mentioned tonight that the moon was massive and orange like a 'harvest moon' this was well after it had changed.So I never got to see it.
