| | | Sun Spots Is it possible to capture sunspots from down here? Im wondering what the blobs are on the attached image. I noticed these dots while looking back over some sunset shots from earlier this year.
The spots appear in the same place over two handheld shots taken 18 seconds apart from different viewpoints at 21:08 on 10th June 2006. This is from the clearest of the two images. The blown up bits are at 400%. |

| | | Re: Sun Spots Thanks for the link, I'll digest that before heading to the office.
No filters, both shots were just point, zoom and click auto's (I do this quite a bit despite people having warned me against it, i just make sure its faded a lot before doing it)
Light was fading fast when I took the shot, but it had been a blisteringly hot clear day.
The camera was an S2 IS w/ canon converter giving 630mm i think, the settings it chose were 1/160th, f4.0.
BTW, this is the sunset shot I was after, which the above sun is cropped from. Its called 'Energy' |

| | | Re: Sun Spots It's a great shot. Very apt for today's energy issues.
Interesting article, I shall read it thoroughly again after work.
