| | | yearend lunar eclipse On Dec 31 [this Thursday] a partial lunar eclipse occurs when the earth's shadows takes a tiny 'bite' out of the top of the full moon between ~7.10pm-7.25pm in the evening
See www.pierpaoloricci.it/eventi/eclissi luna 31-12-2009 VERSIONE EN for times etc. The penumbral [half-shadow] eclipse last much long but it usually difficult to detect - good luck

| | | Re: yearend lunar eclipse Thanks for the info, Nytecam. I shall be out with the camera, weather permitting, but I am not sure if the moon will be high enough at that time to clear the tall trees at the back of our house.

Trik | The moon will be due east at ~30 deg altitude eg 1/3rd way up the sky |

| | | Re: yearend lunar eclipse I saw the eclipse whilst queueing for the cash point tonight and thought I'd suave some bird by pointing it out to her.
Unfortunately she informed me that she could, in fact, see 3 moons.
Turns out she had been drinking since 3 p.m.
I gave her a swerve, and have Boltons finest to look forward to tonight.

| | | Re: yearend lunar eclipse best I could do with my little compact - 24x at 1/1000 at f4.8, hand held.
Didnt know, just spotted it when going out, what a lovely sight with the frost.
Havent cropped it either, I like all the blackish surround.
Cheers
Ken
