| | | Re: noctilucent cloud last night Here's a link to satellite loop D http://www.sat24.com/frame.php?html=view&country=gb (switch to infra red when it gets a bit darker)
Looks like it could clear through, but there's still alot of broken cloud about behind that band across the south. |

| | | Re: noctilucent cloud last night HI There,
Noctilucent clouds are quite a modern phenonoma, with not much mention of them before the late 19th centuary.Although there basic composition is thought to be meteoric dust their ever increasing occurance and intensity are giving rise to speculation that Global Warming may at least partly responsible for the displays. As a amateur astronomer I cant remember seeing them regularly in the 70's its only since the late 80's Ive really started to notice them.Since 2000 they seemed to really of taken off as a regular and spectacular summer occurance with the 16th of July 2006 being a particularly vivid display.
Regards Les. |

Perhaps it would be an idea to make a thread purely on all our sighting on NLCs?

| | | Re: noctilucent cloud last night James - seems some debate whether NLC is 'astronomy' or 'weather' - I chosen the later WAB forum to post my pics but this YouTube - Noctilucent cloud over London
shows a selection NLC seen from my garden over the last few years to give some idea as to the the variety of NLC forms | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
