| | | DVD spectroscope I've cobbled together yesterday's video clip + stills here - for viewing the sun's spectrum - hope it's of interest |

| | | Re: DVD spectroscope You're not on your own nytecam. I've had a look and although it's not up my street so to speak, it's very interesting and I appreciate your dedication to your chosen hobby. |

I'm a physics lab tech, and found it very interesting. I'm going to have a go tomorrow. I've also emailed the link to our Head of Physics.
Thanks for the info..

| | | Re: DVD spectroscope Good luck Jim Here's another tack - star spectra via a fine sieve from the sreetmarket acting as a 'diffraction grating' before the telescope
My video explains and is a repeat first done awhile back and useful to demo the effects of diffraction and what are effectively lo-res spectra

| | | Re: DVD spectroscope Thanks everyone for your reponse - yep - I done another more lighthearted vid at YouTube - fun with LED light-ring and clear DVD after a weekend buy at the pound-shop eg a white 12xLED lightring for the parasol pole and play with a clear DVD disk to show the rainbow [spectral] colours from the LEDs.
Does contain a tiny bit of science revealed as the slight dip/gap in the blue/green from an otherwise continuous 'daylight' colour rendition spectrum. The LED lightring works fine for night snaps [in Night-Mode] to ~10ft and video to ~18". Fun doesn't come cheaper than that
