Perseid Meteors

A bit of information here on the perseid meteor shower that is active this week.
The moons light gets in the way a bit but still worth having a look.
Further information here:

Re: Perseid Meteors

Just got back from doing a Daubenton's Bat survey. It was great leaning on a footbridge over the river listening to the bats below whilst watching the Perseids above: They made a fantastic combination.

The meteor rate wasn't that high though - I understand that it's likely to be a better show next year.

Re: Perseid Meteors

As far as I can remember the peak was on Saturday night, it drops off pretty quickly over the following days.

Re: Perseid Meteors

A telescope really won't help with this kind of thing though. They are best seen with the naked eye because of the speed and amount of sky that each meteor covers.

If you set up a camera on long exposure and fairly wide angle you can get some shots of them however.
