I saw a book in Aldi last week for Beginners in Astronomy for only £2.99 it looks very useful, so I bought it!  and look forward to understanding more about the sky

| | | Re: Venus + crescent moon Early December there was a crescent moon with Venus just below and to the side. They happen quite often but our cloud cover stops us seeing it. On the bus home there were pile of kids and they kept running from left to right back to front upstairs to keep their eyes on the view. The sight was as Dutchess says 'wonderous', but that night I felt privileged to see these 8-12 years olds so enthralled.
