Re: Venus + crescent moon

Unfortunately I didn't see the crescent moon tonight or Venus Your photos are very welcome, thank you.

I saw a book in Aldi last week for Beginners in Astronomy for only £2.99 it looks very useful, so I bought it! and look forward to understanding more about the sky

Your photos and posts do stir interest lol

Re: Venus + crescent moon

Early December there was a crescent moon with Venus just below and to the side. They happen quite often but our cloud cover stops us seeing it. On the bus home there were pile of kids and they kept running from left to right back to front upstairs to keep their eyes on the view. The sight was as Dutchess says 'wonderous', but that night I felt privileged to see these 8-12 years olds so enthralled.

Re: Venus + crescent moon

Why is it when we get older, it's not acceptable to run up and down and get excited when we see something we like

Great shot, Nytecam

Indoctrination from being told to be quiet and behave as a youngster other wise you'll be taken away & end up presenting Spring Watch?!?

Re: Venus + crescent moon

Venus will be at its brightest this appariation in a week's time on Feb 19 at -4.6 magnitude eg 100 times brighter than a 'bright' 1st mag star How bright is that? On a dark evening shadows are cast on snow by Venus but none here in London currently

Re: Venus + crescent moon

Venus has been superb here in the Derbys Dales, haven't tried any night pics before with a digital camera but here is an attempt (not a very good one at that!). Taken 29th Jan from our garden
