| | | The moon and Venus The earlier thread [re conjunction of the moon and bright planets] is over as the moon moves away nightly and eastwards. Here's a snap of Venus plus a moon pic through my 350mm lens from tonight

| | | Re: The moon and Venus Thanks Ruth - fantastic clear and sunny yesterday for some skywatching in full daylight as below - pics taken in mid afternoon in a blue sky via campact handheld to telescope eyepiece and snap away - some will be sharp
Note a hint of horizontal cloud belts on Jupiter - Jupiter is 'fully' but faintish compared to Venus as it over four times further away from the illuminating sun. Venus is marginally further away from us than the sun and shows phases like the moon. Later skyshot at dusk of Venus + Jupiter.

| | | Re: The moon and Venus Many thanks for your posts about this, nytecam. I know next to nothing about astronomy and had wondered what planets they were.
The night sky has been really beautiful here in the Quantocks during this crisp, cold weekend. |
