I hope there are no ill omens forecast with such an event. I'm guessing this is quite uncommon.

Don't worry - conjunctions of planets are happening all the time - for example, there are 3 occurences in December.
As well as Jupiter/Venus on the 1st, there will be Venus/Neptune on the 27th, and Jupiter/Mercury on the 31st.

And contrary to what astrologers will tell you (don't confuse astronomy with astrology), the positions of the planets among the stars can't possibly affect day-to-day events on Earth.

I find this very interesting. Thanks for the photos Nytecam. It is clouldy here and I cannot see them tonight.

How often do these planets do this. My b/f mentioned that he watched these two 'stars' all the way down from Scotland tonight and asked me what I thought it might be.

Thanks to you i was very proud to tell him!

I saw these walking home yesterday, I 'watched' them for the full hours journey. I was most intruiged, and now I'm enlightened. Thanks!
