That's lovely. The moon looks like a pin-prick when I try this.

Looks like a nice shot (doesn't load full size though). You need to use a telephoto lens for moon shots otherwise you get the pin prick effect. Try shooting the moon behind or close to trees or with buildings in the shot with the long lens and you'll get a much better result.

Re: moon setting

Excellent TB, considering no telephoto.

Seems OK now.

Re: moon setting

This is probably my best photo of the moon

This was taken with a 300mm zoom at F8, ISO 100 and shutter speed 1/250 so you do not even need a really big zoom to get a decent photo

Re: moon setting

Nice shots.

I have found the quickest cheapest way to get shots of the moon with a compact is to digiscope.

Use a cheap spotting scope and offer up your digi cam{often set on macro dose the job} Its tricky to hold still but it is soon mastered....hay presto cut price telephoto. As the moon is quite bright i might darken the exposure a tad for more detail.

Its cheap simple and efective. There are some on my blog.

Enjoy snapping.

Re: moon setting

This was taken earlier in the yr..using my Nikon D40 set up on the tripod, was pretty pleased with the result..I might just try my hand at some more shots, especially as the skies have been pretty clear lately..
