| | | Partial eclipse of the sun Today! This morning! Better views in the North, apparently.
'In London, where the Moon's disc takes its biggest bite out of the Sun at 1016 BST (0916 GMT), a maximum of 12% of the star will be blotted out.
Conditions are better further north. In Lerwick in the Shetland Isles, the Moon will obscure as much as 36% of the Sun.'

I was just wondering how you take a photo, must have some pretty dark filters fitted, is that how you do it?
Good luck with the pics anyway, post them on here if you get any, bit grey & breezy here too dahn Sarf. |

| | | Re: Partial eclipse of the sun HI All,
Well I got to see the eclipse but it was very cloudy. Nothing wrong with your image James it shows the eclipse very well ,you seem to have had brighter sunshine than me!I missed the maximumum but small clearances either side at 09:43GMT and 10:42GMT allowed me to observe and photograph the event.Robin,I used Baadar Solar Filter Film in front of a telephoto lens.I tried to set up a Gallery so as to download the images to this thread but they ended up somewhere in the archive never to be seen again

Thanks for retraiving the images Robin the workings of the Gallery are to complicated for me.Most of the astronomy forums its dead easy even for me to submit images.Let hope I can work it out for the Lunar eclipse on the 16th.
