| | | Re: My first attempt at the moon Not bad AJH, exposure looks spot on. If I were you I'd drop the ISO down to 200. You should still be able to get a shutter speed of around 1/300 which is all you need with a 300mm lens. And if you can use a tripod or rest the camera against something solid you can go slower than that.

| | | Re: My first attempt at the moon The usual recommendation is F11 for moon shots and use Aperture Priority. Reduce ISO to prevent 'noise' max 800, less if possible. Use spot metering to calculate exposure and + or - a bit of exposure compensation as required. Don't go longer than 2 sec exposure. Use a tripod with cable release. Some people also use mirror lock up for a steadier image.
But you are doing well with your previous settings. |
