| | | Last full moon of 2007 Today will give us the last full moon of the year, on christmas eve.
Call it what you like...
Here are some of the names used for it: The Cold Moon.
The Long Nights Moon. The Oak Moon.
The Wolf Moon. The Frost Moon.
The Moon Before Yule. (A bit out this year?)
Or maybe even... make up your own name for it, which is may be more relevant to you than Celtic names for it, Native American names for it, or Pagans names for it for example...
I hope its clear enough to see it, though I'm not sure it will be....
Cheers

I was always under the impression that the November moon in Celtic lore was called the Oak or Dark moon, but the Oak prefix for the December moon came about in Medieval England.
Why? Not sure. I'm sure a far more knowledgeable person than me will come on the thread and let you know!
Cheers

Snap Sherlock!
We've been peering at things with our new telescope this year, from the garden.
Our poor neighbours!

| | | Re: Last full moon of 2007 Yes my neighbour over the road has a wonderful tree which is frequented by Fieldfares and Redwings. I have been scanning the internet to see if there is any guidelines concerning pointing a scope in their direction. I can not see any laws that forbid it. |

Enjoy your spotting and ....Happy Christmas!

| | | Re: Last full moon of 2007 Yes I will let them know why I am pointing in their direction. The tree is nearly bare of berries now. The birds picked it clean from the top down. I would say a flock of about 60 visited each day. Fantastic. |
