| | | The Harvest Moon 26-09-07 The earlier thread on this month's full Moon was going a bit off topic so I thought I'd start a new one.
I took some more photos last night and early this morning. This is it setting behind Sron na Sean-mhathaire:
There more photos in my Photobucket. |

| | | Re: The Harvest Moon 26-09-07 Wow Ambriel that photo is great, really atmospheric, all you need is a wolf howling beside the tree!!! I tried to get a photo of it last night but my camera wouldn't work so I was gutted. Good job

Particularly in the latter part of the night when it actually woke me up, shining through the bedroom windows.
I've found the best approach to Moon photos is to switch the camera to manual focus and use spot metering, and select the smallest aperture you can.
It also helps if you've got a tripod and set the time delay on the camera to give it a chance to steady. |

| | | Re: The Harvest Moon 26-09-07 Jez,
The "Harvest moon" is the full moon that appears nearest to the Autumnal Equinox, occurring in late September or early October.
Autumn's association with the transition from warm to cold weather, and its related status as the season of the primary harvest, has dominated its themes and popular images.
I hope this provides some explanantion. |

I hope this provides some explanantion. | I went away to work thinking it must be connected to the equinox. Thanks
