meteor shower

I dont think April is the most exciting month for astronomy, but there is the Lyrids meteor shower that peaks on the 22nd, if we are lucky up to 15 meteors an hour can be seen paul

Re: meteor shower

Yes I will have a bit of that thanks. I love a good old meteor shower. Haven't seen a decent one for a while so will make a point of catching this one. Thanks for the heads up.

Watch out for comet 73P/Schwassmann-Wachmann which is making its way towards Hercules at the moment. On 12th May it (or rather its bits because it broke up in December 1995) will make its closest approach to Earth in the constellation Vulpecula.

Thanks I will do that
I will be getting my telescope out and settingit up.
I will have to darken th room and draw the curtains so people accross the road don't think I'm a peeper . I don't have a garden now and live on the main road so there is a great deal of light pollutiomn. but I will type in the coodinates and see what I can see when the time comes.

Re: meteor shower

Remember watching the leonids (I think) way back when (I was 15!), while camping out Trentham way. You couldn't miss them - the whole sky was streaked!
