| | | Re: My God it's Full of Stars call me stoopid but i always thought they were just slow moving shooting stars!! ok so now i know lol i have seen a few satalites, although i didnt realise thats what they were! i have seen quite a few shooting stars too tho. up here in orkney you get very good starry nights. we are one and a half miles outside a village so there are no street lights to spoil the sky. |

Countless stars plus we had venus, mars, jupiter, and saturn, and we could see gas clouds too. Amazing.

| | | Re: My God it's Full of Stars The best place I've ever experienced for stars was climbing to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. The air is thin and there's no pollution at 19000 feet and the stars were absolutely amazing. Apparently you can see more stars with the naked eye from the southern hemisphere than from the northern. The only trouble was because of the extreme cold and relative lack of oxygen all I really wanted to do was descend to the warmth and comfort of the hut several thousand feet below! |

Saw bearded vultures and mountain chats (but they're not part of British wildlife so I'll stop there). | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
