Re: what a a wonderful gallery!

Most of the images here are excellent not just because of the quality but because of the diversity in the images. There are categories that cover most peoples interests and most of them are nice and active. Personally I appreciate any comment I get on my work, I also appreciate constructive comments on where the images are wrong as it's one of the ways I can improve my work. So, please, never be afraid to say you don't like an image, just say why you don't as well .

Boddie: a short prime lens like a 50 or 85mm with extension tubes is idea for close up static work. Personally I use a sigma 150mm macro lens, ocasionally with tubes, as I like the greater standoff distance it gives. Using extension tubes on zoom lens also works but it is a bit more awkward as the minimum focus distance will change if you alter the zoom. A lens support will always improve your images whether it is a tripod, monopod or bean bag but they do slow you down and some of the small insect and dragonflies are a bit quick!
