I had a great day today, but bird of the day is tied between 2. I went to Blackwater Arboretum and while walking around a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker came and hopped up a tree near me, and then, after waiting around for a while, I had good looks at Hawfinches as they came in and landed on the pine trees. I've got to thank Deerstalker again for the recommendation, it really is a great place.
Also at Blackwater were some colourful Bullfinches, Bramblings, Siskins, Marsh Tits, Goldcrests and Treecreepers. Earlier in the day I had been to Pennington Marshes where the highlight was the huge flock of Golden Plovers that kept flying around!
I'm really pleased, two new birds, and really nice ones as well!
