I put up a multiple fat ball and peanut feeder yesterday in a young cherry tree near the back hedge. My wife had bought it from a supermarket to cheer me up as I've been under the weather lately. So I put it out more in hope than anything else.

This morning the sparrows were already brave enough to try it. Then at lunchtime a lage brown shape glided over the garden and perched on the branch directly above the new feeder. Yes, a sparrowhawk. Stayed for about 2 mins, then off over a wall and away. Stunning.
