Hi,
You really need to work out exactly when you need to use a tripod, and that will determine what sort and the weight. Just ass important is the head.
I take close-up nature shots and use a Benbo with a ball and socket head.
It is not too heavy and I can carry it over my shoulder for hours - plus a Benbo is idea for awkward places and uneven ground
