i agree that you should always read the tiny print very carefully , but in the case of the wpoty i feel that the possibility of a win and the benefits in terms of publicity etc that this would bring, outweigh my concerns over copyright issues.
as regards the sponsorship issue , every large company has an environmental impact , shells is just more obvious than some others, and as corporate sponsorship is always going to be needed to run the contests this is something we will have to live with who ever the sponsor is...
