Consider your knuckles rapped - don't quote anything from a TV programme as 'science'!
It is actually a serious problem: the best of scientists might present arguments this way and the other, stressing that their suggestion is hypothetical
but it ends up as a ten second snip on the TV ... Same applies to the internet - two lines needs to be enough to explain any scientific phenomenon .... Believe nothing until you've read the original literature or, at least, a seriously qualified review!
