There is an association (between skull size (strictly, we can only
assume that the brain in the skull was larger, and not necessarilly more efficient) and tool production) - you propose one interpretation. Another would be, 'Humans' brains got larger therefore they invented tools to hunt.' Carry that further, '.... they invented tools ...' not necessarily to hunt with .... Other causes are possible - for instance that they started doing crosswords but how could we ever test that thesis?
