On a grey and drizzly January morning in Essex, I am looking forward to my trips to Norfolk, the Yorkshire Dales, Wales, the Scottish Highlands, etc. again this year .... wonderful Britain indeed! Richard |
I fail to see the attraction of flying anywhere
but wouldn't be without my regular Mediterranean fix! And, quite so, why would one want to sit all day on the beach. So we travel by train, boat, 'bus or car hire - big advantage is that you see the 'real' part of the countries you visit as well as places
en route.
Travel aside (although when I last sussed out the train fair to Western Scotland I decided that southern France was cheaper) it is usually more economic to holiday around the Med (if you're not going for first class hotels &c) than in UK .... and you can sit up most of the night talking to the beetles, cicadas and moths ....
But, if you're doing UK - don't forget the humble Peak District - good walking, good habitats and good beer .....
