Other than the very limited availability of lenses the E500 is a very useful camera. However with the Olympus kit lenses it is a very good buy. Just depends on what you are going to be using it for. Long Zooms at reasonable prices are not readily available. Sigma have yet to make their Bigma (50-500mm lens) available for the 4/3 mount in the UK

Sigma have now announced a good range of lenses for the E500. The 50-500mm Bigma and the 150mm Macro to name just a couple.
