That is interesting! and quite unusual! Sounds like a really good idea. There's lots of hands on things you could do that are portable - winter twigs for trees, plastercasts of animal prints, feathers, seed germination (then tree planting) - even tadpoles can survive a day or two in a bucket of pond water!
