Fossil hunting report

Hi all,
Went the Isle of Wight to check the Hamstead and Bouldnor cliffs for fossils. According to one webpage, this locality is apparently is fairly rich in Ogliocene fossils. I went with a friend on tuesday and despite bad weather condtions at times(got caught in heavy snowfall for a time) it certainly didnt disappoint.

The following was found: Quite a few Turtle shell fragments, a few crocodile scutes(plates), a nice bit of lignite(fossil wood) a vertebrae, and my favourite find of the day, a crocodile jaw fragment with 1 complete tooth.

Certainly worth the trip and I'm already thinking of a return trip when the weather is better and warmer. I'll post pics later.

Mark
