| Re: Ray Mears Wild Food Ok, maybe I am being a bit optimistic in saying that roasted dandelion roots make firstclass coffee subsitute but I have tried it and it is passable - just. I guess that makes a slightly more palatable choice then contemplating eating earthworms during survival training years ago!
But, from a botanist point of view, it is interesting to understand how we once used plants and, indeed, how many of our flora came to be named. I have a feeling that this program will kinder an interest (if only briefly) in traditional plants that were once used for cooking.
I understand that Ray Mears will even try to persuade some of today's top chefs to cook meals using old recipes. Should make for some interesting body language when it comes to the tasting! |
