I imagine it's just making the most of the mild weather, why not get out and get some extra food whilst it there? Plenty of species are doing it,
Hedgehogs etc. Until they've had the real cold prolonged period of weather to force them to admit it's time to batten down the hatches!
This is only my guess by the way, no idea if it's really correct!
