Oh, yes thanks!

A funny thing happened!
As I walked past the entrance to the
Badger sett, in contemplative mood, I thought I could hear music. It sounded like a brass band and I could hear also a sound like marching feet, or maybe paws? It seemed to me as I stood there that I could hear distant singing. I realised it was the
Badgers, singing a little song:
Badger March
We are the
Badger Band!
We dig in chalk, or mud, or sand.
In daytime we stay quiet and still,
In our home inside the hill.
Oompa! Oompa! Snuffle, snuffle! Grunt!
We’re going on a peanut hunt.
We are the
Badger Crowd!
We are chewing very loud!
We look for worms and slugs and snails,
We’re waggling our little tails.
Oompa! Oompa! Snuffle, snuffle! Grunt!
We’re going on a peanut hunt.
We are the
Badger Bunch!
Listen to those snails go crunch!
We’re digging with our little feet.
Peanuts are our favourite treat.
Oompa! Oompa! Snuffle, snuffle! Grunt!
We’re going on a peanut hunt.
Oompa! Oompa! Snuffle, snuffle! Grunt!
We’re going on a peanut hunt.
As I tiptoed away, a grunting voice from just inside the Yew tree said, -
Wish everyone on WAB a merry Christmas.
I looked inside the Yew tree, but there was nobody there!
